Parent Education

"Why do some kids grow up with ease, while others struggle?" Many factors influence why some young people have success in life and why others have a harder time. The SEARCH Institute has identified 40 concrete, positive experiences and qualities - developmental assets - that help young people make wise decisions, choose positive paths, and grow up competent, caring and responsible. The assets that families have the most influence and control over include: Family Support Positive Family Communication Parent Involvement in Schools

Parent Education

Parent Education Classes offer practical techniques and new skills for raising healthy youth. The classes are for anyone who is interested in helping our youth develop communication, responsibility, empathy, cooperation, honesty, integrity, and dependable strengths. Several of our school sites will be offering additional classes and programs for parents throughout the year. Watch for more information in your child’s school newsletters and parent education flyers.

The Parent Project
The Parenting Challenge
    

The Parenting Challenge is designed to meet the needs of parents in the workplace and community.  This class will address issues in prevention of substance abuse, delinquent behavior, child abuse/neglect behaviors. The goals of the program are to enrich family relationships, reduce substance abuse and its related problems among family and promote healthy relationships that build resistance to personal and social dysfunction.

General information about drug abuse, signs and symptoms, current trends, and prevention tips are presented by School Resource Officers and School Counselors.

A highly structured parenting skills program created to help parents prevent and intervene in the most destructive adolescent behaviors.
